BREAKING OUT (2021)

Exhibition, Identity, Print & Digital Design

In the fall of 2020, Mariana Velasquez and I created a branding proposal for Boston University's 2021 BFA Thesis Show. The goal of the show is to showcase the achievements and growth that each painter, printmaker, sculptor, and designer has achieved throughout their four years in the Boston University College of Fine Arts. Our proposal was chosen to represent the graduating class of 2021.

This identity of the show is called Breaking Out which pays homage to online learning and the efforts each artist and professor has made to adapt and succeed in our new reality. The visual system recognizes this time in our lives by using a combination of pixelated fonts to represent the digitalization of our senior year, and rainy day glyphs to portray the idea that even though today could be seen as a rainy day, we are ready to start breaking out into a brighter future.

First recipient of the Katherine Small Gallery Award for outstanding achievement in Typography, which recognizes a graduating student enrolled in Boston University’s Graphic Design BFA program.
